HaXlash.org: Currently running ...

posted by scrappy on Friday March 04 2011, @01:40PM   Printer-friendly
Just to provide a situation report (and new news) on our current status ...

Right now, we are running the following config / software:
  • FreeBSD 7.4
  • Apache 1.3.42
  • mod_perl 1.31
  • perl 5.12.3
  • MySQL 5.1.55

The code base is what is available on GitHub: github.com:lottadot/haxlash.git

There appears to be a couple of warnings concerning Perl 5.12 + Parallel::UA module, but this doesn't seem to be prevennting the site from running.

Are you running HaXlash (aka SlashCode)?

One of the things that is sorely missing from this world is a list of sites that are currently running HaXlash (aka Slashcode).

If you are one of the privileged few that has succeeded in getting a site up running this code over the past years, and are still running it, please Submit a Story to let us know.

At a minimum, let us know the name of the site, a URL to get there (if public), what operating system you are running on and any other information you think would be of interest."

Welcome to HaXlash ...

Back on February 4th, 2011, after 9 months of complete silence on the lists, George Taft pop'd his head up on the Slashcode mailing list in an effort to bring life to the project ... after much discussions, including both past and current project maintainers, it was decided that instead of reviving Slashcode, we would be better to fork and rename the project, with the result being this project.

HaXlash (pronounced Hack-Slash) is a fork based on the last publicly available Slashcode. We currently have:

Our goal are to take the base code and modernize it.

First Phase is simple: make sure it installs / runs under Apache 1.x with little to know headaches for the installer.

Second Phase is more difficult: upgrade it to work with Apache 2.2

We welcome all and any developers to participate in this goal, and especially welcome anyone that either has experience with Slashcode and/or can write documentation to help those new to using it.

More news to follow as available ..."
